A candlelight tribute to
those we have lost to cancer. Friday, June 18, 2004, midnight. North
Thurston High School track. Public welcome!
Each
year at the Relay, you have the opportunity to purchase a luminary to remember a
loved one that has been lost to cancer. You will then place the bags around the
track for a very moving and special ceremony in which the names being honored
are read aloud. It is important that you submit your names to the
registration desk at the event or the e-mail address listed below to ensure your
loved one’s name is read.
Luminary bags will be available at the Relay Friday evening for a donation, at
which time you may purchase one and place it around the track for the
"Midnight Memorial."
You may e-mail the name of a person you wish to honor to our new address created
especially for this purpose. It would help us greatly to have the names in
our data base prior to the event. Please e-mail to: Jana
and Shawn Ayres or telephone them at (360)
705-8228.
To avoid confusion, please note that The
Midnight Memorial is meant to honor loved ones who have lost their lives to
cancer. Cancer survivors are honored during the survivor's lap at the
start of The Relay. Please do not submit names of those who are continuing
their fight against the disease.
