Rebuilt FRC7778R

Mechanic's Caution: Over the past fifteen years our mechanics have encountered
numerous instances of crownwheel bolt failure on Series III differentials. For
precautionary reasons we advise that all Series III differentials be removed and
inspected carefully, and all crownwheel bolts be replaced with new. In units without
freewheeling hubs, or with extensive off-road service, the same procedure should
also be followed for the front differential.

extreme service and are prone to failure. We feel the best is the minimum acceptable standard.

A.R.B. Locking Differential

This fully-locking differential provides instant 100% traction, is stronger than the stock Rover differential, and is lubricated by standard gear oil. Due to its design, the locking differential is able to transmit full power to
both wheels on command without adverse effects on tyres, transmissions, or handling. And more importantly, it does not have a higher wear rate or require more maintenance than a standard differential. Manufactured from the highest quality materials and heat treated for maximum strength, it features a fast recovery air compressor that can also be used to inflate tyres. Can be fitted to both front and rear axles.

Limited Slip Differential: Delivers progressively greater traction to the non-spinning wheel.
This unit is gear operated, and has no clutches to wear out, delivering constant traction
by transferring power from the spinning wheel to the static wheel smoothly and automatically.
If you've ever driven a "posi" you know how very good these are!

Breather Valve for axle housing, front and rear 515845

Mechanic's Note: We reccomend periodic servicing of the axle breather valve
to assure proper operation of the valve. Remove the valve with a 5/16" Whitworth
wrench and clean in solvent. Then shake to determine if ball valve is rattling, in which
case the valve should seal correctly, yet allow pressure release when axle is operating
hot. Whenever any axle seal leaks, the breather valve should be serviced to eliminate
the possibility if pressure buildup, and resulting oil leakage.

23. Hub Seal Distance Piece, Replace-able sleeze on which the hub seal turns 599698

Mechanic's Note: If a groove in the hub seal distance piece can be seen
or felt, it must be replaced, or the new oil seal will be damaged. The distance piece can
be removed using a cold chisel. The workshop manual describes the operation as
"shattering" but in actuality the cold chisel typically (but not always) stretches the
relatively soft steel distance piece, which may then be removed from the end
of the stub shaft. Be careful not to nick the tiny radius at the base of the hollow
stub shaft. The new distance piece is best installed using the short piece of pipe as a drift.
