Long wheelbase Land-Rovers ceased to be imported
into the North American market at the end of the 1967
model year. This is a 1972 right hand drive diesel. I
met the original owner, of this exceptional machine,
a native Finn, in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1997
quite by accident, and he advised me that the
Land-Rover has traveled, among other places, to St.
Petersburg, Russia. A decal on the rear window states
proudly "We crossed the Nullarbor on Shell"
[diesel fuel]. Do you know where the Nullarbor is? It
is the Australian equivalent of the
Sahara
quite formidable, Im told.
This Land-Rover has a freshly rebuilt engine [zero
miles since installation], a full and complete brake
overhaul with all new genuine Girling cylinders
throughout, all new shoes, all new drums as required,
new exhaust, wheel bearings, hub seals, etc.. All
systems have been checked, serviced and bought up to
factory specifications as required. The winch on the
front of this Land-Rover was fitted at the Warn
factory in Oregon, when they needed a late land-Rover
to work up the pattern for a bracket for their model
8274 winch. It
remained on the vehicle when it was returned to its
owner
courtesy of Warn Winches! It has never had
power put to the motor since installation. A
conversion was carried out to this vehicle to ready
it for the round-the-world journeys anticipated by
the original owner; the work was undertaken by Searle
of Sunbury, the creators of the famous Carawagon
Camper vehicles. Motor caravans, they are called in
England. We have in stock a Dormobile "elevating
roof" which can be fitted to this vehicle if
desired, making it effectively a stand-up camper with
twin berths aloft. This exceptional Land-Rover should
be ready for decades of stalwart service or world
travel in the hands of an appreciative new owner. As
with our other restored Land-Rovers, a 12-month,
12,000-mile warranty. Please inquire in the office
for further particulars.
